I am passionate about film. There is a magic present in the moving images of a great motion picture — a “magic” that has the ability to inspire one to greatness, or perhaps even act as a mirror to reveal the ugliness that is contained within, which then requires one to confront and transform into some being better than before. In his book, ‘The Great Movies’, noted film critic and commentator Roger Ebert says, “Of all the arts, movies are the most powerful aid to empathy, and good ones make us into better people.”
Part of my passion extends to writing reviews of studio flicks (a.k.a. major motion pictures) or indies (independent films), as well as film commentary and profiles on members of Kansas City’s vibrant film community. The column is on Examiner.com, though many of the articles are also posted here. Have a read and feel free to comment.
